  1. A bone is a hard connective tissue 
  2. comprising the skeleton of most vertebrate
  3. animals. Bone is composed of a network of 
  4. collagen fibres impregnated with mineral 
  5. salts (largely calcium phosphate and calcium
  6. carbonate), a combination that gives it 
  7. great density and strength, comparable in 
  8. some cases with that of reinforced concrete.
